Alioscopy at NAB 2009 - Las Vegas - Autodesk Booth South Hall SL-2120

Alioscopy's first day at NAB 2009 in Las Vegas was a huge success. We are in the Autodesk Booth - just next to the Toxik demo stand --just on the side of the Main Presentation Stage. (Las Vegas Convention Center - South Hall - main level - Booth # SL-2120)

We had many visitors by the booth yesterday (Monday 20th. April) and the various responses to the Alioscopy auto-stereoscopic (no-glasses) 3D display was "WOW", "That's exactly what our company is looking for", "This is the hands-down BEST stereo-3D image I've seen with no glasses", "How do we make content for this kind of LCD display?" and more.

We met many new business contacts and the audience at NAB really sees the value and B2B opportunities that Alioscopy offers.

Alioscopy at NAB 2009 --Autodesk Booth - South Hall #SL 2120

Alioscopy Demonstrates 3D Auto-stereoscopic Workflow with Autodesk 3D and Compositing Software at NAB 2009

Company will Showcase 3D Auto-stereoscopic ‘No-Glasses’ Display along with Creation and Finishing Techniques for Generating Multi-View Content

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – April 20, 2009 – Alioscopy® USA, a 3D visualization technology provider, today announced its involvement with Autodesk, Inc. at the 2009 National Association of Broadcasters  (NAB) conference at the Las Vegas Convention Center (April 20-23,, 2009).  Located at the Autodesk booth (South Hall, Booth SL 2120), Alioscopy will demonstrate finished auto-stereoscopic 3D content playing on its LCD display, and will provide information on how artists and technical directors (TDs) can use Autodesk® 3ds Max® software (with planned future support for Autodesk® Maya® and Autodesk® Softimage® software) and Autodesk® Toxik™ software to help create and composite auto-stereoscopic 3D animated content for play-back on Alioscopy LCD displays.

Alioscopy is a pioneer of ‘no-glasses’ auto-stereoscopic 3D display technology, and is building a community of 3D artists to learn and master the techniques of creating Alioscopy-ready templates and content for playback on Alioscopy LCD displays fitted with a proprietary lenticular lens that makes audiences almost feel what they are seeing. Industries ideal for Alioscopy digital signage display solutions include: retail, hospitality, medical visualization, serious games and 3D games, casinos and gaming, theatre lobbies, trade shows and exhibitions, concerts and events.

At NAB, Alioscopy will explain how artists will be able to create scripts and expressions for their 3D content and perform the necessary Red-Green-Blue (RGB) sub-pixel separation that corresponds to the Alioscopy 8-view interleaving process—resulting in the unique Alioscopy auto-stereoscopic 3D ‘no-glasses’ effect. Using certain Autodesk 3D software and Toxik, 3D artists will be able to benefit from a substantially streamlined workflow, saving time by not having to go into-and-out of multiple applications to complete the 8-view mixing process.  To learn more about the Alioscopy mixing process, look at the diagram at: www.alioscopyusa.com/index.php?q=en/technology-overview

“Alioscopy is thrilled to be a part of the Autodesk NAB 2009 exhibit and highlight the complementary workflow between our auto-stereoscopic 3D technology and certain products in the family of Autodesk 3D and compositing solutions,” said Philippe Roche, CEO and President of Alioscopy USA. “There is an explosion of 3D stereo films hitting the theatres this year which is driving unprecedented interest in stereoscopic 3D.  The association between Autodesk and Alioscopy products will introduce 3D artists and compositors to a growing creative community, and open up business-to-business (B2B) opportunities in new markets to provide attention-getting, immersive 3D—without glasses—where audiences almost feel what they are seeing,” added Roche.

Alioscopy wins Best in Show Award

Alioscopy recently won the DailyDOOHBest In Show Award“ from Media Expo Europe, given to products and technologies that represent the most innovative product, the most thought provoking solution, or something that caught the judges’ eyes and inspired or excited them. Judged among five other auto-stereoscopic 3D solutions, Alioscopy won for its headache-free display that gave the most crisp and clear image. Alioscopy was found to be ‘streets ahead’ of its competition.

Alioscopy WINS DailyDOOH Best in Show Award

Only those who don’t know what is coming later this year would see it that the video walls displayed by Samsung and Sony on their booths at Screen Media Expo Europe were highlights of that event - just goes to show how much some other ‘industry analysts’ and journalists really know about what is going on. Trust us. Old technology merely re-arranged in a slightly new way equals don’t buy.

Anyway, we promised the week before last (and indeed we promised the organisers of the show) that we would do our very own DailyDOOH Best In Show Award and are pleased to announce that the winner was French based glasses free 3D provider Alioscopy.

Back in October 2008 in Paris we first wrote about Alioscopy and said “We have not been impressed with many glasses free 3D systems but this one was very good and attracted a lot of attention at Viscom Paris”.

What secured them the best in show this time around was, quite simply, that at Screen Media Exco Europe there were no less than 5 different 3D technologies on display all in one place - now who says staying away from shows is a good idea** AND is it not this ability to do direct comparisons (and the networking) what trade shows are really all about?

Visitors would therefore have, like us, been able to see Philips/Samsung, Magnetic, X3D (the earlier Newsight product), Bolod and Alioscopy AND compare them for themselves.

Unlike several of the systems on display, Alioscopy seems to give a headache free display and it’s crisp and clear. As mentioned before when we have written about Alioscopy these French guys also put a lot of store in the content that they demonstrate (a lesson for all trade show exhibitors) - above all their content is always relevant - as a retail demo for example, they show exploded Lego kits and the such like.

The 3D world has a lot of work to do in order to convince the industry that it is a compelling technology but to our mind Alioscopy are streets ahead of their competition.

Alioscopy win a free banner advertisement created by Amigo Digital and 3 months worth of free banner advertising on DailyDOOH.
